must-have: colourful prints

Colour makes us happy! This top by Antik Batik has an explosion of different colours and prints. And oh boy, do we love it. Especially now, since the weather is taking a turn for the  more sunnier and brighter days. Pair it with light washed jeans so the top stands out even more. It’s a real eyecatcher this summer.

celebstyle: heidi klum

Heidi Klum, all-time fashionable mom (she’s got 4 kids!) has been together with singer/songwriter Seal since 2004. Guess what she’s doing to keep the spark in her relationship alive? She loves to give Seal private fashion shows at home, wearing all the jewellery he gave to her. Because of the hectic family life, she’s definitely gotten creative in these things. The fact that she loves all those glitters has been proven by this look once again. Look at the way she wears not one or two, but three trends together. Hello sequins, nude and studs! Definitely the ultimate look for a woman like Heidi.

fashion faux: charlize theron

We are not used to putting Charlize Theron on our worst dressed list. But after Oscar night we feel we have the obligation to do so. Charlize choose to wear a dramatic violet and lila Dior gown. The wrap -around rose bustier on her chest looks extraordinary, but not per se  in a positive way….

catwalk trend: the trench

It’s about time we stow away our nice, thick and warm coats back in the closet… far far away. And the only thing we just need now are trenchcoats. They’re hot on the catwalks especially in a nude or neutral color like the ones from Burberry. And blue is a surprising favourite as well.

But the most important thing is that you wear one that you feel comfortable in. Style it off with a dress, skirt or a pair of jeans. Almost anything (if not anything) is possible with a trenchcoat.

fashion flash: oscar awards dresses

For the 82nd time around the Oscar Award ceremony was held in the Kodak Theatre in LA yesterday evening. Besides the highly desired statute it is all about ‘who wears what’ at the red carpet. Actors, stylists and plus one’s try to find the balance between high fashion and movie-star-tradition on a yearly basis. Some insiders even say it is the most important red carpet event of the year. Check all the pictures here.

fashion flash: alice in wonderland

The new Tim Burton creation ‘Alice in Wonderland’  has premiered and it functioned for a lot of fashion designers as inspiration. Obviously Nicholas Kirkwood went all out designing these ‘Alice in Wonderland’ inspired killer heels. “I am very happy to be involved in this project as I love Alice In Wonderland. My interpretation for Alice is all about fantasy and fun through escapism.” Kirkwood told Vogue earlier. No wonder they are being shown in a special window display of the luxurious French department store Printemps during Paris Fashion Week.

fashion flash: chanel’s treasures auctioned

During a two-day-long vintage Chanel sale, held at the Parisian ‘Drouot Richelieu’ auction house, hundreds of fashionistas were drawn to the French capital last week. Lots of items were on display included iconic tweed skirt suits, classic chain handbags, 1980s-era ensembles by the label’s current designer Karl Lagerfeld, and vintage haute couture gowns by Mademoiselle Chanel herself. While some of the vintage pieces stayed safely behind velvet ropes for one to watch, most of the clothing and accessories could be handled, inspected and even tried on. Women of all ages, some of them dressed in head-to-toe Chanel, rushed to the racks finding their Chanel piece for a bargain price. There were even some people calling from overseas (USA, Asia) to bid on special items. It took assessor Francoise Sternbach from ‘Drouot Richelieu’ a year and a half to assemble the more than 800 lots, which she acquired from private sellers. Surprisingly some of the vintage items were in such beautiful state that they probably will end up going to museums.

must-have: the colour yellow

It’s not easy pulling out some breezy summer clothes with this weather. Even though the sun doesn’t shine, we sure will. With this soft-coloured yellow tunic. The color goes extremely well with blue washed jeans. Accessorize this tunic as you wish (read: lots of necklaces) and finish your outfit off with a pair of comfy shoes.
