catwalk trend: wrap it up

We’re leaving the less-is-more approach behind and changing it to more-is-more. Just about every store is stocking up on the fall collections and so are we. One of the upcoming trends we like is the layered look.

Everyone is able to do this. Key is to keep it in the same shades. For instance, you could wear a light grey top and darker grey blouse over it. Another fun aspect of this particular trend is to mix fabrics such as knitwear with wool or faux fur with silk.
Don’t think it over too much, just be creative! If you need help, don’t hesitate to drop us an email at styletips@welikefashion.com!

catwalk trend: prints on pants

Prints have been among the summer trends but designers haven’t forgotten about these bold prints for upcoming fall season. We’ve observed an explosion of prints on pants these last few months. Graphical, floral, animal and grafitti prints have been spotted on the catwalks. The looks are finished with (even more) printed sheer tops and striking blazers.

Style tip: Don’t forget to accessorize, even if your pants are out there already. A simple belt can add a sense of calmness to your look.

catwalk trend: golden age

A new season has begun on the catwalks:  fall season! And with a new season, new trends rise. One that clearly stands out is the golden age. We saw a lot of golden accents, prints and accessories. And what’s hot on the catwalk? Golden head-to-toe outfits! But let’s try not to bring that to the streets, shall we? Key is to get your inspirations from the catwalks; Diane von Furstenburg, Jason Wu and Balmain all went for gold for upcoming season.

Style tip: A wearable look of this trend is to tone it down just a little bit by wearing one golden item (or a shade close to gold) and combine your look with golden accents.

catwalk trend: embellish your look

Tops, blouses, dresses and probably anything else you can think of look even more better with ornaments. Think of sequins, beads, studs, rhinestones and embroideries. Sparks flew off the catwalks of Alberta Ferretti and Chanel.

It’s definitely a great way to perk up your look. But don’t go overboard; remember that less is more. Leave the over-the-top looks for the catwalks! Stick to one embellished piece as the base for a real eyecatching outfit.

catwalk trend: see through

With this warm weather it’s nice to wear loose and breezy tops for a summery feel. So we can’t complain! And it’s a perfect excuse to show off your tan! Great colours for this season are not only nude and sandy but pastels too.

Styletip: It’s always tricky wearing see through tops. What does one wear underneath? Wear a bra that isn’t noticable that much. For instance, if you’re wearing a sandy coloured top choose a nude coloured bra.

catwalk trend: pattern play

More prints is definitely in this season. Designers like Dries van Noten and Anna Sui have been mixing and matching from head to toe. Tribal motifs are up and coming but florals, digital and leopard patterns can’t be forgotten.

Style tip: if you’re not used to mixing things up, stick to one print in a dress or jumpsuit. And pair it up with big accessories such as statement necklaces and bracelets.

catwalk trend: layer up

Put your creativity to the test! Work with a lot of layers and drapes this season. It’s quite fun because based on the weather, how you feel or whatever reason you can come up with, you choose how much you wear. Tops over tops, blouses over tops, vests over tunics… you name it. Create more volume by wearing draped items! The possibilities are endless.

Do you have a love for layering up? Do you have the perfect outfit with a lot of layers and drapes? Send some pictures to lisette@welikefashion.com and see if you make it onto the blog!

catwalk trend: game on

Everyone has days that you just don’t know what to wear. And if you don’t have an off-day, what’s your secret?! But picture you having such a day, don’t waist too much time thinking about your outfit and go for a sporty look. Just pull out those comfy (loose-fitted) shorts or pants, basic top and get going!

Styletip: If your outfit is still looking a bit too plain, try a blazer for a sporty chic look.

catwalk trend: printed

Just about everyone owns a basic tee or top. To transform your look from basic to casual, stock up on printed tees, vests or accessories. A printed tee looks great under a blazer or denim jacket. It just adds that little extra for a more casual and outgoing look. Do you want a more glamorous look with print? Think sheer, sequins or embellished jackets.

catwalk trend: flower power

A print that never gets dull is the flower print. It doesn’t only brighten up an outfit, it brightens up your mood as well! Now if you think the flower print is a bit too much, you’re absolutely right. So you don’t have to wear flowers all over but if you’re up for a challenge: go for it. You can create a beautiful outfit with a simple t-shirt and finish it off with one flowery item for example a skirt or accessories. It’s all up to you!
